Looking for a 1-2 month volunteer program. Recommendations?
Seems like a good alternative to pure traveling. Getting to help others less fortunate and/or have added tax benefits thru my LLC is a win-win situation.
Can anyone recommend some programs with reputable NGOs, non-profits, foundations, etc? The more remote the location / unique the experience, the better.

The big ones are GVI and Volunteering Solutions, both with good rep and global presence. If you want something more exotic, try Love Volunteers or Fronteering.

spend a week there over New Years. lovely town. one of the best steakhouses I've ever been to (in terms of quality of beef) -- Dona Salta.
as a general rule, I'm a summer seeker. so no Southern Hemisphere from May-Sept.
I could use a volunteer to cut my grass, clean my toilets, and tar the roof. Now this isn't a complete selfless opportunity, there may be a cold beer or two in it for me while I watch you serve.
