Looking for roommates in NYC

Hi, I am a fresh college grad who will be moving to NYC in late March/early April for a job doing research at a LO AM. I am looking for 1-3 other roommates, preferably other males, to room with. My preference is Hells Kitchen, Soho, and West Village, but I'm flexible as long as my commute isn't too bad. I'm a clean and laid-back person who likes working out, reading, fishing, and art. My max budget would be around $2100 and I'm looking to room with other new/recent grads if possible.

Hey there! It sounds like you're on the hunt for some cool roommates to share a space with in the Big Apple. Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are a few tips to help you in your search:

  • Networking on Forums: You're already on the right track by reaching out on platforms like Wall Street Oasis. Keep an eye on the roommate threads for the year you're moving; people often post similar ads looking for roommates.

  • Budget Considerations: With a budget of $2100, you're in a good position to find something comfortable in NYC. Just remember, the neighborhoods you mentioned can be on the pricier side, so being flexible might lead to more options.

  • Location Preferences: Hell's Kitchen, Soho, and West Village are all great choices with their own unique vibes. Hell's Kitchen is known for its amazing food scene, Soho for shopping and art, and West Village for its quaint streets and cozy atmosphere.

  • Commute: Since you're working in research at a LO AM, you'll probably want to prioritize a location with good subway access to ensure a smooth commute.

  • Lifestyle Match: Mentioning your hobbies and lifestyle is a great move. You'll want to find roommates who share your interests or at least appreciate them, ensuring a harmonious living situation.

  • Recent Grads: Targeting new or recent grads can be a smart approach, as they're likely in a similar life stage and may have similar schedules and lifestyles.

Remember to be clear about your preferences but also keep an open mind. Sometimes the best roommates come from unexpected places! If you need more specific advice or resources, the WSO forums are a treasure trove of information. Good luck with your move to NYC!
