Mathematical Finance vs Operations Research (M.S)
So I got accepted into Rutgers University's School of Arts and Sciences and Engineering. The school has an accelerated 5 year program (M.S) for operations research, mathematical finance and industrial engineering. Now when I graduate I would like to work as a Quantitative Analyst or a Risk Analyst but let's say I don't get a job in the finance Industry. Would a degree in mathematical finance be useful anywhere else ? I mean the curriculum for mathematical finance includes a lot of programming classes even Matlab programming and up to advance calculus 2. I don't see why I couldn't get a job as a Software Engineer. What do you guys think I should do ?
