Million Dollar Traders (Documentary)

Hedge Fund Manager and author Lex Van Dam puts together a small Hedge Fund full of people with zero trading experience and zero finance experience. Gives them access to an allotted amount of his money and tells them to invest.

Pretty interesting.

Wait until video three.

You're born, you take shit. You get out in the world, you take more shit. You climb a little higher, you take less shit. Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what shit even looks like. Welcome to the layer cake, son.

Edmundo BravermanIt's funny, because it's a great concept for a TV show. Not so much for a trading floor.

He doesn't put them in with his real fund or real traders, he literally rents a small space, puts one of his employees in charge of them to watch them and gives each of them a bloomberg terminal.

My favorite part is where Simon goes to sell 800 shares of a stock, accidentally ends up buying 800 shares, then has to sell 1600 shares and literally within 15 seconds, the stock drops and he loses 200 pounds simply for being a dumbass.

Cookies With MilkenI saw this a few months back. I used to chuckle when I heard Lex's supervisor say "lets make mun-e." The show is pretty entertaining but don't watch with the expectation that you will glean any insight into the world of trading. I think Lex used the show to generate interest in some online trading courses for average Joes or something.

Ya, I believe he started some sort of academy for trading.
