Lol dude, I've been on facebook since 2006 and every time they make a change people get upset. I remember when they introduced the news feed and people were creating groups petitioning the news feed. Imagine going on facebook now without a news feed.

looking for that pick-me-up to power through an all-nighter?

I love facebook changes because most of the time it creates a window of opportunity to stalk other peoples pages until they realize the changes affect their privacy settings. Got a lot of intel and blackmail.

Get out of my head.

If Facebook didn't innovate from time to time, it would end up like Myspace. Just like how Google overtook Yahoo to become the number one search engine. Change is essential in today's fast-paced environment.

Disagree. The main reason why I liked facebook so much was because of the simple interface (like Google's...actually, Google's homepage hasn't changed much since inception but Yahoo's has). I didn't like myspace because it looked like a clusterfuck. I feel like facebook is slowly but surely moving in that direction, and most of the changes are uneccesary.

This new change is definitely unnecessary. I effectively have two news feeds. I dont need two.

GoodBreadWhat everybody except barboon said. I remember being pissed they came up with apps and that they let people who weren't in college get an account.

I'm glad someone else was a little put off by what he said lol

I get what you're saying. I dont mind changes generally and I realise its a business, and innovation has to be pressing in order to stave off things like Google+ (especially as they launches their service to everyone now), but after the changes to the chat mechanism (although I really liked the addition of video calling) and now the fact most of my settings have been compromised, I'm being told what I will enjoy (again may be based upon my latest interactions), its becoming a bit too much.

Aside from the video calling, the only change I liked was the messaging change, email.

Surely you guys dont like the new chat function. You can't figure out whose online. I've pretty much stopped using it.

I don't really care for the changes but wouldn't go so far as to leave FB entirely. Chances are the less I like the interface the less I will use it (at this point it is starting to look like a traffic accident in a busy intersection during rush hour). I like plain Jane, simple, straight forward things and I don't want to be forced to stalk every person I've ever friended, lol.

At any rate, people are hyperventilating over this and like many posters have mentioned, it will be over in a few days because most people can't live without it...and no one will be able to describe what the old version looked like.

Regards

Very much the route I will end up taking. Perhaps won't go to the extreme of leaving but may deactivate or something. Generally, the people I want in my life are in my life, one way or another so the necessity of Facebook is diminishing day by day I guess.

I haven't liked most of the changes they've made over the past year or two, but I stick around because everyone is on there

Sure, people that use it often will stop bitching after a few days, but the folks that only log on once every few months are going to be confused for a long time to come. Personally, I don't really care what they do, but I will agree that simple is often better when it comes to designing websites.

I have to say I was a tad bit creeped out when FB suggested I 'friend' my office manager. Not that it would be strange, in and of itself, but I am not connected with anyone at work and none of my friends are friends with her...so how would FB know to suggest that to me?!?! Coincidence? Something smells fishy.

After I thought about it, I bet it pulled the contacts in my phone and did it that way.
