New FT Analyst Living Recommendations NYC

Hey all,
Recently found out I'll be starting as a FT analyst in NYC this summer. I'll be a fresh grad, and I know this topic has been posted about in the past but was looking for some advice. My office is going to be in Hudson Yards and I was thinking about living in the East Village, Lower East Side, or Murray Hill. Has anyone else had this arrangement and liked it? Looking for neighborhoods that are fun and full of young people. I've looked a bit at FiDi but have heard its a bit more boring. Also, what are the best ways to find roommates? I've heard of a bunch of different services but wanted to see what people have used and liked. Thanks so much!

Congratulations on the offer. If you value commuting, Hell's Kitchen is nearby and affordable. The 7 Train is the only line that connects to Hudson Yards, so it's the only line that connects to plenty of Midtown locations, and even Long Island City apartments (i.e., Hunter's Point, if you really want to save on rent) would work. I wouldn't say any of these places are particularly fun, but you can get around easily.

East Village definitely has the youngest crowd with an active bar scene. The area is safe, but it definitely has a grungy vibe that I personally dislike. Also, a lot of the bars are college-age or younger. LES might be more your vibe.

Murray Hill is definitely a good mix. Mostly young professionals, and a decent mid-20s bar scene. Very train/bus-accessible too, so you can visit other areas of the city to get a more well-rounded experience. Kips Bay is very similar but wouldn't have the same easy commute to Hudson Yards. Hope this helps.
