New Grad - Where to live?
I'll be graduating and going full time in the city next year and was wondering the best places to live. My office is in the Solow building, and I've read that Murray Hill and Chelsea are good neighborhoods but was wondering if the commute would be too long? What's the longest commute you would do as a new grad? Is a 30 min commute by train doable?
I've heard Harlem is great. Valet parking everywhere and nightly fireworks.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, both Murray Hill and Chelsea are indeed popular neighborhoods among young professionals in NYC. The commute from these areas to the Solow Building should be quite manageable.
As for the longest commute, it really depends on your personal tolerance. Some people are okay with longer commutes as it gives them time to read, listen to podcasts, or just prepare for the day. However, a 30-minute commute by train is generally considered doable and is pretty standard in NYC.
Remember, it's not just about the commute. You should also consider the neighborhood vibe, proximity to amenities, and your budget. It's all about finding the right balance that works for you.
And hey, welcome to the jungle! It's a big step, but I'm sure you'll navigate it like a pro.

Chelsea is great if you’re gay.
Hell’s Kitchen is even gayer
