Been pretty much following this all night. So sad. The guy driving the car was active in the car enthusiast scene as well, and will be missed too. Carrera GT is not an easy car to drive. Overall, just a sad, horrific, and tragic event. May they both rest in peace.

Also been following this since the first minute it showed up on the internet. It actually makes me legitimately sad to see him go. He was an absolute class act. A video has aired of the car on fire after crashing and the people filming say they can see someone in the car. There is also a short video of him with the car about to leave from the event. The below is why many were skeptical at first:

"It is very ironic that Paul Walker was the victim of a cruel death hoax that claimed the actor had died the day before; only to perish later in a fiery car crash. On Saturday morning, Walker’s rep released a statement that said Paul was alive and well, only to later have the horrible duty of reporting his death. Our prayers go out to his family and friends."

RIP Paul Walker

I'm caught off guard by the strong reaction I'm seeing everywhere. I didn't know the guy personally, but it seems like he lived fast, died young. His contributions to cinema were modest. He was young, wealthy, beautiful, drove exotic cars, and probably fucked supermodels.

At 40, in summation, he had accomplished what many of us aspire to. That's my eulogy. RIP, but I see no tragedy here.

It's strange to explain something like death on an internet forum, but here goes anyway:

Walker - who you say lived fast and died young - does not seem to have been a bad person. Everyone lives with their mistakes, regrets, and failures; here is a man who did what he could in his career - despite some saying his acting was unremarkable - and in his personal life by way of raising a daughter and involving himself in a charitable cause.

And when all is said and done, isn't that the only thing truly within our power? The willingness to do something?

All we can ever do is try. This was a guy who did that - and that is what we here aspire to do.

You got things mostly right, Captain, except for the last part: this is a tragedy, not for him being a celebrity but because we lost someone who actually tried at life.

in it 2 win it
