Possibly getting screwed over as the eager and capable young worker.

Small physical trading group. Scheduler/Junior trader. Have started doing small trades within the past year, while still helping out the logistics group. My desk is doing pretty well, but the environment is (obviously) a lot different than investment banking and so on.

I've been very happy with my comp, and I have advancement opportunities at my company. A few of the senior traders have gone out of their way to mentor me and introduce me to people. My bonuses have been very high for my role...probably a lot higher than the lazy direct coworkers

Since I started here, I've worked pretty hard. I always answer calls after hours. I'm capable of doing higher level analysis, but also get the grunt work done. Physicals are all about relationships so this is how I can differentiate myself at this point.

A lot of my coworkers - a lot of them are life long "logistics" people - do not have the same attitude or work ethic. Some of them are actually unprofessional. One of the schedulers (like 40 - has been doing the job 12 years) has clearly been dogging it when they WFH. They also do super annoying stuff like use a PTO day on Friday leading onto a long weekend, and list me as coverage on their auto-reply for the entire weekend. Annoying.

What's frustrating is that my team enables this a bit. So they will just contact me instead of the lazy person. Of course this keeps me relevant, and they DO appreciate my work, but it sucks to help someone else go along being lazy. I But I guess it's hard to find and keep schedulers that are even half decent.

So, for young people in these types of environments, should I just accept it? And appreciate that I ultimately get a way better career and compensation trajectory due to it?

It sounds like you are complaining about the fact that you have an edge over your coworkers. This exact scenario is what people talk about when they say do good work in logistics and eventually you will get a shot at trading. By doing good work naturally your superiors are going to load you up with more and this is why you will eventually get the shot at trading that others won't.
