Recommendation of recourses to get ahead this summer

I just graduated high school, and I'm about to go into my freshman year of college after this summer. I want to get ahead of my peers before school to be knowledgeable and prepared for my freshman year and prepare myself well for recruiting. I've been contacting some local IB and PE places and talking to some wealth management and private equity founders. I'm doing an internship looking into different portfolio management models. I'm also trying to shadow and do some projects for a PE place nearby. I say this to give you background on what I've been doing and am asking for your help on what I should do in the future; these internships, projects, and meetings are not full-time, and I would like to fill my time with something else of usefulness. Are there any Books or websites you recommend reading, documentaries or podcasts I should listen to, or any courses I could take? Thank you so much for your help.

In all seriousness, it's good that you are thinking of this ahead, but don't forget to take a deep breath. If you go into an interview and the interviewers believe you're a bot (for lack of better words). Technicals, markets, etc. are important don't get me wrong, but a huge part of the process is your ability to get on a call and talk about things that make you, you. I work at an EB and what helped me stand out was my volunteering work and the sport I played in college. Make sure you are diversified with what you are involved in. Be a normal kid and touch some grass like the other comment said.

Yeah odd choice of words haha

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - young kids are so lucky to have WSO as a resource. A lot of us didn’t have it when starting out and trying to learn about and break into the industry.

This. I think if you go back in my post history you might still be able to find a post that I made last summer asking for help and what to do, had legitimately no idea how recruiting worked but just knew that I wanted to do IB. A year later, because of the advice people gave me on this forum, i'm here sitting with an internship lined up. Long live WSO

Awesome!

Maybe start reading the WSJ/lightly looking at techs with the M&I 400 but you don't need to get serious about recruiting until late freshman/early sophomore (At the absolute earliest). This is pretty much the last free summer you're ever gonna have so you'd be better off having fun/dating/traveling/whatever else then burning yourself out stressing over recruiting this early in the game.

Are you going to a target, semi-target, or non-target school?
