ThaVanBurenBoyzDuring the initial stages of the game, focus only on rock, wheat and sheep while everyone else kills each other for road building material. You'll be at 7-8 points before everyone else.

I've tried to implement futures into the game, but the other participants weren't having it.

i assuming with this strategy you are going for lots of cities + largest army? ive come to the conclusion that its close to impossible to win w/o either longest road or largest army, unless you get really lucky with a few victory points from development cards.

Usually, yeah, you can get 6 pts. quickly from largest army + converting your two free settlements to cities.

Often, you snag a victory point while getting largest army/spending shit while the others are still fighting over longest road. By the time you're at 7 or 8, everyone wants to get rid of their brick & wood, which will make it easy to get the last points (especially if you've received a road building/resource card along the way to largest army).

Largest army + largest road is the way to win.

I have actually thought about making a model to price the different commodities based on what each player holds, what the map looks like, what stage of the game it is, what the latest trade went for, the probability of more of that commodity flowing into the market in the next few turns, etc...

If you could do that, you could play the game with quarters (or $100 bills if you're a baller) and standardize the commodities by creating a currency, kind of like monopoly.

Wall Street leaders now understand that they made a mistake, one born of their innocent and trusting nature. They trusted ordinary Americans to behave more responsibly than they themselves ever would, and these ordinary Americans betrayed their trust.

Lol...or you could analyze these things for real world commodities and make billions ;)

I have been playing this game for four years. Last year, every single night of the summer would be work>dinner>settlers+rum&coke>shower>sleep>repeat.
