Should I be concerned if I don't have an opinion on most political issues?

Don't feel strongly either way on many, many political issues. What does this say about me? I fear that I am not thinking critically enough or that I'm missing something others feel so fervently about?

I look at what right or left leaning proponents have to say about something, and I go oh okay, well I agree with ABC, while XYZ sounds stupid (referring to their reasons WHY).

FYI I consider myself well-read and up-to-date on topics others care about, I just am unable to produce any opinions and it worries me.

For older folks on WSO, have you experienced something similar when you were younger and then developed your perspectives over time? As a college student, everyone seems to have an opinion but me.

There’s nothing wrong with you. If your well read and up to date and you care what goes in the world, you might be just be detached. For me, I don’t get too emotional over issues. It is a means to end and not a way of life, too many people today seem to think otherwise. With the recent rise in radicals on both the left and right, it has just pushed me to be more centered and take the side I think is right. It’s a good quality to have, to be able to look  at both sides and see what they’re saying and what their reasons are. It’s something I practice, and it keeps you honest with yourself.

It hurts me to read this.
