Smart Phone Loyalty
Are you guys loyal to your smartphone OS (android vs iphone)?
would you ever switch your phone to the other type? and what reason would it be? (cheap, better specs, etc.)
Edit: Follow up question for android users, would ou ever be loyal to the phone brand? Ie, Samsung only?
Aww, so sad that BB is never mentioned anymore. I used to be a die-hard BB user. Then the iPhone 4S came out and I got tired of my slow-as-shit OS. Will never use Android unless: 1) They make the OS a LOT faster. It's still so slow. 2) Devs put equal time/effort into their Android apps as their iOS apps. Previously owned two Android tablets. Sold them. Got an iPad.
this:
also their upgrades / the new bb's sucked so bad vs. iphone just gets cooler (or have cooler commercials, i cant tell) and more addictive... i switched over literally because rimm sucked so bad
as i write this i still hate quite a few things on my iphone (i.e. inability to read my emails when i dont have signal.. that is the single thing i read when im in the subway/bored when i had a berry) .. but i still wouldnt switch back to bb because they really are terrible.
Had a blackberry too and made the switch to iphone 4 and never looked back. Theres a reason why RIMM is a failing company, its because their products of seriously lacking and barely innovative. In other words, complete shit.
Chic: Pick up a higher-end Android phone, or just get a decent one, root it and load up Cyanogen or something. It'll run circles around iOS.
Android phone and tablet user, here. I'm in the Android camp all the way, because I hate Apple. Also, if Google were a person, I'd stick my dick into her. Or him. Whatever. Just sayin'.
I got the original droid when it first came out and I loved it. I still love the android system and my new phone but there is so much verizon crap on it that I can't delete. Supposedly the samsung galaxy nexus doesn't have all of that stuff.
I'm satisfied with Motorola and Android but tired of verizon.
rooting it to get rid of that crap is a 1 click deal these days
Nice, seems like that should be manageable. Hopefull I don't accidently eff my phone up though.
I use two BB (for work and personal) and only for emails, calls and receiving BBMs... The only "app" i use is the calendar. One of my phones is over 2 years old and the other is brand new. I haven't had any issues with either.
I've never been a gadget kind of guy. I only use tools if they're useful to me, not for the novelty / geek factor. Although it seems that the geek factor is cool nowadays.
I would only switch from blackberry if something bad happens to the service, or if the alternatives to the BBs fabulous keyboard get good enough.
I also use an HP 12c and excel as opposed to Texas Instruments or any more "modern" calculators / software. I guess I'm just old school and my plan is to get to the stage where I don't carry a "smart" phone at all.
Apple since the original Iphone. They invented the smartphone, every new Iphone that is released is the best phone on the market for at least several weeks. Google/Samsung have some catching up to do (I do like the Galaxy series though).
If the new iPhone has a bigger screen like it's rumored, to have, I'll be switching though. My only concern about previous iPhones was that my hands were a bit too big for them.
I hear ya, bro. Don't know what that feels like, but I hear ya.
Agree with B&G, have had an iPhone since the original one came out (except for a short BB spell), and as long as they keep doing what they're doing, I'll be a buyer.
Had a BB for a few years and moved onto Android (Galaxy Nexus in Dec). Outstanding how much better this phone is, I can do anything I ever imagined on it.
As for loyalty, I will go to wherever the best product is. As of right now Android is ahead of iOS (phone wise). iOS is just too locked down for me and there is so much stuff that can't be done. Smaller screens, inferior hardware, no customization, lack of removable battery and/or removable storage, no hdmi out, can't setup a media server, no flash. Tablet wise Android is still a bit behind but ICS 4.0 is closing the gap
what do you guys do on your phones apart from calls, email and text messaging? I'm curious.
Since I ditched my bb...everything.
I stream to my HDTV a lot to watch movies or even play a few games. Also use my phone as a mobile hotspot if I am in an area where there is no wifi. I have all my music (through google music) and a bunch of movies as well as netflix, hbo go, hulu
I was the same way. I gave in and got an ipad. It has basically made my TV, xbox, computer, laptop and ipod all obsolete. Invention of the decade, IMO.
Buy an ipad. Dont think about it, just do it. You will become addicted, you have been warned.
Interesting tidbit about Apple. Apparently they use screenshots of the last function you did within an app and thats the first thing that comes up when you open it. This gives the phone a few more seconds to 'think' while you, the consumer, think the app is already running, open, etc. This is why you sometimes open an app and try to click something and it takes a second or two to work.
Can't remember where I read that but its interesting.
Answer to the question: I have had BB, iPhone and Android and like the iPhone the best especially now that I have one for work.
