"Sources close to the matter revealed"
Happened to be browsing Bloomberg and often details of deals that have not yet been announced end up getting reported about because of "sources close to the matter".
Aren't these sources putting themselves in trouble by revealing such information?
How is this any different if say I work on a deal and find out the revenue figures for a private target and then post them online (eg. on this forums)? (Note: I won't do this of course.)
Thanks
