Sports - Does anyone in finance play recreationally?

Does anyone in finance play sports recreationally? Do you guys have time to go play squash or golf or anything? Have often seen the stereotype of golfers in ib but then few I've met actually have time to play at the analyst level

My building built a pickle ball court and it’s sick - I try to go play every few days when I have downtime and there’s often others who are playing

Wish I did. Played 4+ hours of basketball daily in college. Full court, winner stays on. Looking back on it, hell of a time.

I’d wake up around 10am, go to class, come back and play fifa for 2 hours then go hoop starting around 5. Hoop 3-4 hours, lift, shower, get fucked up then fuck and repeat. Hedonistic lifestyle but fucking hell was it fun.

Now I’d be scared to play basketball given my medical issues. Running full speed for a chase down block off the backboard? Hell nah bro I’d tear both ACLs

Former athlete so used to high levels of output. Also for the full court 5 on 5, ya boy was a bit lazy. No full court press (only people who did this were the Asians that would come in groups of 20+ @ 9pm right on the dot every night), and I wasn’t sprinting around unless it was a fast break opportunity where I could dunk.

Not to downplay it though as I was highly active, but it also explained how I was able to recover so quickly imo. Body was so used to grinding that even when I drank a bit much (aka every time), I’d chug a brita pitcher and feel fine after 8 eggs and a cup of cottage cheese while I sat on my balcony playing Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Looking back on college is bittersweet. I only talk to a few people from a group of 15 or so I hung out with on a daily basis during those years. 0 people from freshman and sophomore year which is interesting.

Used to play in a competitive basketball league that had organized (refereed) games in the evenings and kept track of detailed stats/standings... good times...

Nowadays, I have a sweet (but more relaxed) setup where I sneak out during lunch twice a week to play full court basketball with a fixed crew of guys. The group I run with make sure games proceed efficiently (no arguing or other BS), and after a quick shower I'm back at my desk by 1pm. Although there is a range of guys that play (slow old geezers to ex-college players), I'm probably one of the weakest players on the court tbh (my regular crew has ex-college players that are 6'6" and catching alley-oops...), but it's great exercise and most important of all - fun.

I used to train BJJ, Muay Thai, do snowboard races and triathlon races. I grew up playing tennis and running XC. Now I just like hitting up the gym and indoor cycling on Zwift.

I might return to Muay Thai and triathlon in a couple years, but like training alone right now and my schedule is really tight currently.

Did field hockey for a while and managed to get to international level (albeit for a small country). After receiving a minor thrashing from a much larger neighbouring country, decided to park aspirations to that end and focussed more on club competitions. Still manage to train and play for a total of 3hrs a week, but the passion for it is tempered now.
