I tend to enjoy movies that have a current events theme to it. Syriana, Thank You for Smoking, and Up in The Air are a few examples of what I am talking about.
The Reluctant Fundamentalist has this theme, but also has the finance theme, which could appeal to many WSO users.
This movie follows the story of Changez (Riz Ahmed), a young Pakistani man who attends a target school and joins a PE firm as an analyst. Changez was a rising star at his firm until the events of September 11 throws a wrench into his 'american dream'.
I really enjoyed this movie. Quite frankly, most critics find it slow, and I can see were they are coming from since the movie has a lot of scenes about his life at the PE firm. While the general public might find that 'dry' or 'boring', as a finance geek it only makes the movie more fascinating.
I am not sure how much of the movie is based on reality when it comes to the life of a middle eastern immigrant in New York City, but if I have to guess there must be a lot of truth to it. Some monkeys might find it too bias towards the protagonist, but did not find it that bad. Maybe it is because I am also an immigrant so I can somewhat relate to the character.
I tried to keep this post as spoiler-free as possible, and I hope the responses are the same.
If you enjoy finance-related movies, or a good thriller in general, go watch this movie.

The book was terrific so I am really looking forward to watching the movie.
Where did you watch it at? I looked it up on Vudu, Amazon Instant Video, Cinema Now and still couldn't find it.

Great movie. The banking parts were pretty cool, but I enjoyed the main theme a lot better. Ending threw me for a loop, too. I thought he was just talking bullshit the whole time...
I think that the end result of his friend getting shot was a bit forced, though. Surely someone as smart as C would've known that showing the dude his phone as soon as he asked was something he should've done, and not doing it would've led to problems.
