Wfh income tax implications

If i work for a ny firm and have been wfh in a no state income tax state (like texas), am I still liable for ny state income taxes? I am certain im no longer liable for nyc income tax but the state tax is less clear. Read the law a bit and I believe NY collects taxes still if you are working remote out of convenience but if you are doing it out of necessity then you are not liable. Covid 19 remote working seems like "out of necessity" to me. Any tax guys want to chime in here?

Obviously, I'd talk to a tax expert here, but I'd consider your situation based on where your Home Office is and what it says on your W-2. There's a lot of questions that need to be asked. What office are you based out of? Is your W-2 reflecting that you're based out of a different state during the period of remote work? Are you normally working in a state (like NY) that collects tax on non-state residents? Are there any non-resident tax credits that you'd normally have in this situation? I've been on WFH and work out of a New York office. I expect that NYS will want me to pay taxes because I'm tied to a NY office despite being a non-resident.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
