What Percent of Interviews are Legitimate?
I saw a post about this guy who hates interviewing millennials. Not sure if he was trolling or not, but he brings up some good points. So I was just curious - most interviews consist of "behavioral" and "technical" questions. With all of the forums/guides/threads out there, it's very likely that someone could just have a very basic idea of what's going on, and regurgitate an answer they memorized in the guide. And as for behaviorals, as long as you can bullsh*t your way through a STAR question, you'll probably be in good shape - and a lot of stories are kind of difficult to tell if they're 100% legitimate or embellished at all. So to anyone who has interviewed, or to any interviewer - what % of responses would you say the applicant gave that you knew was entirely true?
I went to a crappy non target state school A couple of my classmates made it big and now work at a BB. One of them told me he was having a bad day after someone reneged on an offer he put out by someone who went to a target school.
He then started calling other students from said target and began being a complete jerk asking questions like, 'Tell me more about the biggest failure of your life.' and 'what are the bad habits you'd bring to your new role.'
He's a strange cat. But I'd say each of those phone screens were illegitimate.
Is there a way of interviewing that eliminates this nonsense?
You're allowed to read guides online for interview questions, that's called preparing. You're also allowed to study prior to exams in case you haven't figured that out yet.

An interview (especially behavioral) is basically a bullshit theater. I couldn’t care less whether the behavioral answer you gave was real or full of shit, rather that you can articulate the answer and respond to follow ups convincingly.
That said I think less than 50% of answers to the behavioral questions I’ve asked were real.
Do you think there's a better way to interview aside from behaviorals? Like, if it's just a bullsh*t show, why bother?
A good chunk of client interaction - or professional life in general - is a bullsh*t show. It's not totally irrelevant.
I would say that 50% are "completely true" whereas I'm sure there are more that are exaggerated with a truthful base to the story.
He's going to have a difficult time hiring people if he hates interviewing anyone between the ages of 23 and 38
