Who is your favorite comedian of all time?

Title says it all. My personal favorite of all time is undoubtedly the late, great Patrice O'Neal. If you haven't heard of him, you need to check out his special from 2011:

. It's one of the greatest specials of all time, and I've seen a lot. I think the funniest comedian who's still alive today would be Louis CK. Also a huge fan of Dave Chappelle, Bill Burr, Norm Macdonald, Mitch Hedberg, and Chris Rock.

So who are your favorites?

Patrice o neal (his appearances on Opie and Anthony and Black philip are even funnier than his standup stuff IMO, funniest off the cuff guy ever)

Eddie murphy (Delirious and raw are legendary shows)

Dave Chapelle

Robin Williams.  Broadway live 2001 is amazing.  He sums up my opinions on golf perfectly.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Mitch Hedburg

His delivery was everything.

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

Russell Peters, who is Indian, makes fun of most racial and ethic groups in a way that is super funny.  I do not even like comedians all that much but this guy makes me smile and laugh out loud.

Not really any of them anymore. I used to be into a lot the names mentioned, but I now find stand-up comedians lame. A lot of them seem like sleazy douchebags and where half of their jokes are "lol this reminds me of that one time where I was such a degenerate, that I [insert stupid shit here]". The other half of the jokes are "lol isn't interesting that one political group believes x, but really does y?"

Maybe I'm jaded because Netflix started giving standup specials to any dipshit with an opinion, but geeze most of these people suck.

"Work ethic, work ethic" - Vince Vaughn

I lived in NYC for a few years and sat at some of the restaurants where standup comedians would work as servers/waitresses to pay rent. I went to a lot of their shows and it is a true grind to get in that industry. I’ve seen some people fail and some people make it, but it takes a lot of guts and a lot of grind to make it as a stand up comedian.

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

All time: Mitch Hedburg, Louis CK

Current: Tim Dillon, Mark Normand, Theo Von

In no particular order: Eddie Murphy, George Carlin, Gilbert Gottfried, and John Pinette.

Most Helpful

Patrice O’Neal is your favorite comic’s favorite comic.

Other good options. Jimmy Carr (fantastic wordplay, slightly grinding style)

Bryan regan (good stage voice and timing)

Eric Andre (he does stuff on stage, but you have to look for it)

Katt Williams (oldie but goodie)

The list goes on. Birbiglia was hot a few years ago if you want someone who sounds like Mulaney

Ultimately it’s what you find funny
