2027 On-Cycle Updates
Hey all. For those participating in this shitshow I'm curious what the rhetoric/current vibe is with firms and HHs of interest. Are you guys still doing follow-up chats? How many per firm? HHs indicating firms are interested in you but "holding off" after THL? Also some chats going well but then silence afterwards? Lmk what everyone's thinking.
Personally think this is kicking first week of June but we'll see. Discuss below
Still coffee chatting and HH follow ups for now. Convos have indicated that things are holding off for another few weeks until graduations end but you never know and it really only takes 1 to kick them all off
Helpful, thanks. What are your HH follow ups sounding like?
Seems like they mostly happen after speaking to one of their clients and it’s usually just to gauge interest on that fund and rank vs others
Ya have started to get in-person coffee chat requests so you never know when a firm starts to turn those into interviews
What funds?
Apparently “pressure is building” for OC to kick off
HH say this? or just opinion?
VP at MF personally told me this
Have heard something similar from top MF principle (KKR/BX/APO)
BX does not do on-cycle, APO has explicitly said they are waiting until graduation, and from chats with 3 different KKR groups they all seem somewhat hesitant
GC clients in general will not be the ones to kick
Does this person know you can't spell? They probably need to build that into your model test
from what i heard, its not starting until graduation unless a MF wants to fuck up everything
Have heard the same this week from both HHs and people at MFs
Has previous years oncycle usually kicked off on weekends or can we expect it to be during the week?
With MDW ahead I’d say unlikely (would guess 50%+ seniors will be traveling out of the city) but after the holiday weekends are probably fair game
I don't see why it wouldn't be the week of Memorial Day so firms can prepare over the long weekend then return to conduct interviews Tues-Weds before Harvard graduation on Thursday the 29th. If not, they might even delay until after June 15 since schools graduate until then. See: UCLA June 12-15, Stanford June 15.
Yeah they don’t gaf abt those two graduations. Great schools but in the context of PE recruiting only Wharton and Harvard matters
UCLA has close to 0 people go to MFPE each year
FYI: Nobody at the funds actually knows when on-cycle is going to kick off. They have the same information we have (literally these threads) with no planned schedule, and are playing reactive. Entirely determined on when the first MF gets cold feet and goes during early-June grad, early-July when we all get to NYC, etc. Every fund expects some MF to go first after grad due to info parity, but are also all individually saying June didn't make sense last year
So the trolls lying about flying into NYC/non-existent interviews could cause that. PSA to the funds, THL most likely went because they fell for the trolls & no serious fund actually wants to go before analysts get to NYC for training

Do they hire from MBBD? For candidatas with lots lf experience in FP&A?
How many people had coffee chats with KKR/ CD&R where the firm reached out? I'm at a target school + target BB's group and didn't get any from them
Got a chat with a principal but very informal. Initially he said itll be over by Friday. Now he’s chewing his words.
I got 2. Semi-target. State School. From what I've been told, on-cycle will not happen until after UChicago graduates on June 7th, maybe even Stanford on June 15th if MF/UMM want to be nice
Thoughts on what people are doing about travel? Had friends cancel their trips thinking it’d initially be June, rescheduling thinking it’d now be late May, to rescheduling again thinking it will be first week of June. Probably the biggest downside imo is not being able to travel while not knowing when things will kick off.
Technically did on cycle alr happen with THL kicking off and other firms just decided to sit? Record low one firm participating.
