Saw PE firm advertising an analytics internship role for SA23. Firm investment thesis is very much up my alley of interests (i.e., distressed/bankruptcy investing, alt credit opportunities), but was concerned as this sounded like BO, data-crunching role? Should I pursue?

Data analytics by its very nature will include aspects of number crunching and cleansing, so yes that’s likely part of the role, although it could still be an interesting internship. Most PE firms now are all having the same problem of collecting large amounts of data but either not having the time/resources or know-how to effectively use it. Data for most firms simply means operating metrics but depending on the strategy (I.e, consumer or tech) it could involve industry specific metrics and indicators as well.
