Backing Out ot Post Banking Position

Okay team - I realize I am setting myself up to take some heat here - but here goes nothing.

I am a second year banking analyst and about a year ago accepted a Summer 2020 offer for a strategy / investing role at a company in a non-NY / SF market. A good opportunity for my long term interests but for some family health reasons / personal desire to stay in NY I am considering backing out.

I realize that is a very bad look and will burn some bridges, but while I look into a some other NY opportunities I am seeking advice / experience for how to approach this conversation with the company / HH in a way in which minimizes the damage.

Thanks in advance.
