Best MF Growth Practices?

I know that there are a few mega funds that have dedicated growth equity funds (KKR, BX, WP, etc.) If anyone has information, would love more clarity on what industries each covers, fund size, fund success, comp, where they recruit from, etc.

Thanks!

At Warburg they invest from venture stage to late-stage LBO out of the same fund. In the US they cover tech, industrials, business services, healthcare, financial services, and energy. Industrial and business services (IBS) is done out of one group. Anecdotally, have heard their TMT group does a decent amount of sourcing work while the IBS team doesn’t do as much. Have also heard that the culture in TMT is much better than IBS. Don’t know about pay but they require MBA’s for VP promotion. According to H1B data, associate base pay is $140k.

They also have separate funds for financial services and energy. Their flagship fund raised $15bn in 2018. The only reason for the name change to “Global Growth” instead of “Fund xx” was because they didn’t want to use the number 13 (source: crunchbase)

Don’t have great info for the others unfortunately. That said, I found basically all of that Warburg info online and confirmed it with a friend who’ll be starting there in a few months. Your best bet is to just look stuff up online (firm website, pension fund investment memos for fund returns, h1b data for salary, etc). However, I did attend an info session for KKR NGT at the end of the spring so I have some notes from that I can send you if you’re interested. Just respond to this without being anonymous so I can PM you
