I would caution you to get excited about 30-50K carry/equity in the BDC. The firms that do this are usually lower in all in comp than HPS/GSO. 

The BDCs don't really yield much and the equity appreciation isn't great. Outside of TSLX no BDC has outperformed the S&P in a total return basis in the past 5 year but it yields 7-8% now. 

Only interesting if they are paying Megafund Cash comp and throwing in carry as a retention tool. Something like 300k plus carry. 

 

Thanks, Sbed. I would be surprised if they weren’t paying mega fund comp, but maybe this varies depending on what division you’re in. Would you expect someone to make more on the Owl Rock side or the Dyal side of the business?
