Clearlake acquisition of Pathway Capital
I saw the announcement today about Clearlake acquiring Pathway Capital. It feels like the firm is really expanding its offering, especially in private credit and secondaries.
Any thoughts on this move? Seems like good news for the firm’s overall trajectory.
I think this shows that core PE will be less of a growth driver going forward for them (a la Apollo). They will use Pathway to push some AUM into their PE and credit funds (esp from the wealth channels), but this is a way for them to diversify their GP fee streams outside of pure PE.
