Corp Dev at VC/PE firms?
Interested if anyone has explored corporate development/business development careers at large VC or PE firms and if they are able to provide any insight on their experience within these roles. I’m interviewing with a top VC firm for one these positions and am curious to know how these roles would ultimately differ from working at portco’s in-house. Currently in a coverage group at a MM bank and my first choice would be exiting to a growth equity focused investing role within my industry, but the brand name for the CD/BD role and opportunity to have a high degree of responsibility within the role seems tough to pass up. What are the long term career prospects with the CD/BD position and the possibility of moving back into investing down the road?
