Deal sourcing to investment role

Hello all, I worked at a small proprietary deal sourcing company for about two years, cold calls all day everyday. This just really is not for me and although I've actually managed to source some good prospects, the job itself has made me miserable and I'm looking for new opportunities. Has anyone here ever transitioned from a sourcing role to the investment side? I'm thinking my best option would be to try and reach out to PE groups that are known to have analyst/associates sourcing and go through that route, as I have ZERO modeling experience (soaking up as much as I can from online resources). I got through to the final round of interviews for a small PE group that has analysts source, but ultimately did not make the cut. It was disheartening but I figure if one had some interest in me, others may too. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Probably not. That would be like an intake nurse at an ER trying to be a doctor without going back to medical school. Sourcing is but one of many aspects of the investment process, and cold calling isn't even the magical part of sourcing. Having said that, there are PE firms that hire business development guys. for instance Clearview Capital. Trying to get one of those jobs is a good idea and would get you a big step closer to the investment process.
