It's a significant factor, no other way to say it. You don't say school but that also matters to these firms.

We'll really have to see where on cycle lands - if it's in the last 6 months of your 2nd analyst year and you have 3 announced megacap deals, it obviously matters a hell of a lot less than it has in the last 3-4 years when GPA was basically the only factor.

No one can really "chance" you but I would generally not put all of your eggs into landing a top MF knowing you have a red flag on your resume

Agree wouldn't bank on it. Sounds like IB group will help you but some firms/recruiters will just immediately relegate you to a "Tier 2" pile of resumes simply out of screening efficiency.

I'd encourage you to over-index on direct networking / coffee chats with a few key firms of interest to get on their radar and facilitate getting manually moved up to "Tier 1".

Helpful as well. Thanks. Is networking as important in PE recruiting as IB?

Do you think having lackluster grades in color recognition and two-syllable word pronunciation at my pre-K montessori school would hurt my chances at BX / APO? I hope I could have made up for it at my grades at Choate / Exeter / Phillips / Dalton --> HYPS --> Top Coverage / Product group but wanted to ensure it wouldn't diminish my perceived pedigree
