Does being an independent sponsor or search funder count as pre-MBA private equity experience.

If you were to successfully be an independent sponsor or search funder pre-MBA, but after the completion of an MBA wanted to switch to a full-time PE job, would working as an independent sponsor or search funder help enable that and count as "Pre-MBA PE" experience?

I mean fundamentally it depends on how you are able to talk about it. From an experience-perspective, it isn’t a substitute for something like IB. But if you are a good marketer it can be. Except for the mega funds and probably certain UMM it would be viewed as competitive if you then go get your MBA after doing a search fund but before the PE role
