From which banks do MFs/ Top 15 PE firms hire?

Hey guys,

The question is pretty straight forward. One thing I wonder about is people say T15 hire from BBs, EBs, but which specific ones, especially within the EBs? Because would they consider someone from Evercore the same as PW or Guggenheim?

PE firms hire from all of the well-known boutiques (Lazard, Evercore, Moelis, etc.). Same thing applies to all of the BBs.

People at PE funds do not have a mental hierarchy of all banks that they use to make hiring decisions. Funds look to see if you did banking and developed the requisite skill set at a reputable name. Once that box is checked, it comes down to individual candidate quality entirely. I’ve never once see someone say “Candidate A had a better interview but Candidate B worked at a “better” bank so we need to hire Candidate B.”
