How do the MF tech arms invest?
Ignoring the tech specific PE funds(TB, Vista, SLP, FP, etc) and generalist firms with a large focus on tech (H&F, Clearlake, etc), what differentiates the rest of the UMM / MF tech crowd? Understand there are some growthier players (WP, TA probably fall in this bucket) and more value-oriented players (the diversified MFs?) but having trouble understanding what separates the mandate or investment strategy at TPG vs CD&R vs KKR etc.
Not really looking for rankings as much as just trying to understand how a MF industry team can compete with TB given the latter just raised $30B to deploy in the space.
