How does off cycle recruiting process work?

Just finished up an off cycle process with a UMM fund for summer 2021 start and am waiting to hear an update. Can anyone share some details on how funds approach offcycle hires and how that translates to timing for when I should expect to hear back?

I interviewed last Thursday/Friday, took all-day. But I imagine it wasn't a traditional superday with everyone interviewing at the same time. So does that mean the wait might be longer than usual as the fund gets through interviews with all of their candidates?

Thanks all! Just feeling a bit anxious with the wait so any insights would be great

how do you go about finding out these UMM off cycle opportunities? headhunters or just networking?

Did off-cycle couple years back. Got the offer ~5 days after final round via unexpected phone call from the firm (MF PE).

If you're under time pressure from other processes, I think it's worth letting the HH know (or poke them by "providing an update" on your other processes). Otherwise, most of the reputable HHs will try to keep you in the loop as best as possible, in my experience. My guess is there's probably a couple of people you're competing against on a similar timeline, and the firm is undergoing final deliberations. Good luck!
