Is GS/MS PE considered MM?
Their fund size seems small compared to other PE pure plays. Many BB have a PE division, is any of them considered decent UMM and how’s the experience different from traditional LBO?

Yes, in the 90s they tried to grow their funds, but the BX and KKR's of the world told them if they ever saw them compete on one of their deals again their IB divisions would never get another financing, sellside, or buyside engagement. So they don't have free reign to just go after any deal they want nor can they raise a larger fund.
It probably depends. GS I know does credit, equity, infra, and RE direct investment. Their website says they target investments 50-100's of millions. It depends on their segment because growth equity they probably keep a bit smaller, but areas like credit or infra probably going higher. It also says they try to target companies with EV under 6Billion usually. I think they probably are technically MM for most deals, depending on what your cut-off is for UMM/MM distinction.
