Non-target undergrad >> Non-target MBA >> Valuation analyst >> private equity Q&A

Hi dudes.

I’ve spent a lot of time on this forum browsing and soaking up info.

A little background on myself- I studied accounting at the most non-target state school you could ever imagine. My plan was to work in valuation for a bit, then IB, then PE. However, I managed to land a FO private equity role straight after my stint in valuation. Granted, it’s a LMM fund in my tier-2 city, but my goal was never to work at a mega fund. I am also starting as an “analyst”, so my comp is $100k all-in. Nothing spectacular, but I can live with it.

The firm I’m joining primarily does majority buyouts but also some growth equity and de-novo projects. I’m excited to get started.

If any of you feel like PE is hopeless and you’ll never land a role, feel free to ask for advice and I’ll help to the best of my ability.
