Good fellas, both on the PE and credit fund side. Mostly like hiring people with Canadian connections - citizenship, school, work, etc.
heavy hitters... they fly under the radar but do big deals...
Cant remember who told me, but heard the culture there was pretty horrible. Only second-hand knowledge though.
What's the comp like at their Toronto and New York offices?
i had a post on them asking for similar info, theres some info there. i heard they pay above average 190K all in 1st year asc. work you like a dog (from what i hear), but TOP pe in Canada

Friend of mine interned there last summer - absolutely hated it. Sweat shop hours and doods were complete sharks. Experience was so bad that friend came back convinced PE is not for him. Beware...

Anyone have any good insight on Onex? Think I may be a little late for their recruiting season this time around but wondering what the comp, lifestyle, industry rep, etc. is like. Anyone work on a deal with them?
Onex has already signed a few people to start in 2009...not sure if they are still recruiting. The best Canadian PE shop by far. I haven't ever worked with them and you would probably get a more balanced perspective on them from someone working in the States.

Very technical focused in the early rounds, culture is pretty uptight and intense in NY, especially compared to the Toronto office.
Funny, I've heard the complete opposite about the cultures in the TO/NYC offices...
