Partners Group 2023 FA Program

I wanted to start a post about the Partners Group 2023 Financial Analyst Program. Did anybody else apply to this and has anyone heard back? I checked with my friend who is in the program last week and was told that they did not hear anything yet.

I saw last year's post and someone said that they got dinged in the beginning of July.

If you still haven't yet heard back after the superday, is there still a chance at an offer?

Since they're targeting 18-20 analyst spots out of the 40 superday invites, doesn't that mean they would give at least 30 offers (75+% offer rate) assuming roughly 2/3 of people will accept the offer? If the yield rate is lower then the offer rate would be even higher. Not sure if this math is reasonable.

Partners Group isn’t a bad seat per se, people go there get good experience and exit.  Some people like the lifestyle and system and stay despite the under market comp. They aren’t a mega fund by any means (when was the last take private they did) but still play in standard processes and assets.

Exits from US are typically 1. Moving up market laterally, mostly in non-PE buyout teams, ie; infra, debt 2. Moving down market for title or more compensation 3. Corporate development or 4. Out of industry.  I don’t believe there has been a traditional post PE hedge fund exit in the U.S. in the past five years.

Recent FAs have been able to go to good shops post-FA program.

Agreed. Would definitely still take a BB/EB IB spot in NY/SF over Partners Group's 3-year program if you want to have better exit opps, particularly into traditional buyout PE at the MF/UMM level. They aren't very established in the US just yet and people in the Denver office don't seem to be of the highest caliber tbh.

Source: Have a friend who got an offer for their FA program and turned it down for BB IB FT.

I agree but I would only caveat this with good BB / EB groups. Inherently already being at a large buyside firm means that people who do not recruit well, still end up on the buyside as their downside case, even if not most ideal outcome (being at Partners Group).

People who fail from groups with poor general recruiting may have to go to small funds or stay in banking.

Hi all - recently received an invite from PG 1st round for their Europe class, has anyone done a first round with them before? If so, how was it in terms of technicals / behaviourals etc...?

Thanks !
