PE Portfolio Company to PE
Just landed a role at a PE portfolio company as an Operations Financial Analyst. Was wondering the likelihood of being able to transition from the portfolio company to the actual PE somewhere down the line?
The PE firm is pretty big (multi-billion dollar AUM, has worked on some high profile deals). Interviewed with three people, and all of them had some relationship with the PE firm prior to coming to the portfolio company (two came from another one of the firm's portfolio companies, one was brought in directly from the PE firm).
WSO_Chimp, sorry there are no responses yet. Maybe one of these topics can point you in the right direction:

Portfolio Company to Private Equity (Originally Posted: 10/24/2008)
I remember seeing a couple profiles PE professionals' who used to work at one of their PE firms' portfolio companies prior to joining their current PE firms.
I was just curious whether or not how possible such a transition is.
Thanks in advance.
My group pouched a senior member of a portfolio company that we acquired 3 years ago. If you are a superstar working at a strategic and have the industry knowledge that is valuable to a PE shop then the jump is possible but note that this occurs much more frequently at the senior ranks as senior members have the industry contacts and know how.
