Process of getting/finding a summer itnernship in PE?

I just finished up my freshman year and although I'm VERY into ibanking I feel as if PE would be even more precisely what I'm interested in. Any tips, links, etc. for finding/applying/getting an internship in PE?

Freshman year of high school, that is? Because if not, you're a little too old. I hear that nowadays PE shops are looking for talent chiefly among the 8th- and 9th graders.

"Is there a specific reason it's this way, I'm still unsure of the differences between these groups for the most part."

Many Hedgefunds are ultra tiny....a trader, Equity researcher, and a portfolio manager. Three dudes, and maybe four interns to work the phones.

maybe you can consider one of the PE divisions in any BB. sternfox is correct on the HF part, usually set up by some ibanker and his buddies, trying to strike it out on their own, which i totally respect.

Sigh. Yury, you're a fucking freshman. Half of this board is trying to get into PE after 2 years of IB stint, and you're six years behind them. I know exactly ONE kid who is now a freshman (think HYP) who has gotten not even an internship, but a summer one-week long rotational academy type of shit at MS. That's it. How you plan to get into PE being 17 or 18 is beyond my understanding.

I can see only one way: connections. But if that's the case, why do you even ask the question? You either know somebody or not.
