Recruiting at Different Verticals, Same Fund

In some processes at funds that recruit by industry group. Some of my looks have been in spaces that I have some experience in, but which are less interesting to me as an investment thesis / are less impressive than others at the same shop. Is it considered out of bounds to continue networking with other verticals at the same shop, and does the dynamic change from a) impeding process to b) in process to c) post-offer at the “less favored” vertical?
