Resume Error -> Final Round
Hi, next week I have my final round for an NYC LMMPE role. It’s one of the only interviews I’ve landed and it’s basically my last chance (REALLY need this).
Here is the issue… I realize this is all my fault, but I accidentally applied with a resume that has a pretty glaringly obvious error. Somehow, for the HR call and first rounds, no one noticed. I’m nervous that in this final round (SD), with more people looking at my resume, someone will notice it.
Should I say something? Should I try and send a new copy to someone? Should I just ignore it and hope they don’t notice?
For context, the interview is likely virtual.
Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!
Just relax and don't bring it up.
Depends on what the error is
It’s a typo
Like you misspelled something? A lot different than listing a 3.9 GPA (vs. a 2.9).
Just say something to the effect of: “Hi xx, I’m excited to meet the rest of the team and continue to learn about XXX Capital. Ahead of the discussion, please find attached an updated version of my resume for your reference. Best, Jon”.
Yep, this is the move. Easy, breezy, gives them the new version without specifying what was wrong with the old one, and no one cares enough to look at the two versions to see what you fixed.
I was in 2 processes where there was a typo in my resume. I had put "Present of XYZ Society" instead of "President of XYZ Society" in my extracurriculars section. Got offers for both after multiple rounds and did not mention it to them at all - whether or not they noticed clearly wasn't a big deal but it depends on the extremity of the error
