starting in LMM PE vs IB

Current senior in college & for my full time offer, I signed with a LMM tech PE firm (serent capital, summit partners, banneker partners, accel-kkr) which has strong returns and I’ve generally heard good things about. junior summer I worked at a lower BB investment bank on their tech team, but wanted to do more investing work. Curious on people’s thoughts about starting in PE without a proper banking stint and how much working in the LMM restricts me from moving up market (to MFs or even UMM). Would also appreciate any thoughts on an MBA / CFA and any advice on prepping and being up to speed on a technical basis!
