Hi guys,

How do I pitch an investment for private equity?

I am currently interviewing for an analyst position of a fund, where I know that an in depth pitch (10-15min opportunity introduction and 10-15min questions) is required. I personally have prepared the following. Please kindly let me know if I need to add more.

• Overview Business:
  • Business Overview (Description of services/products)
  • Size (Revenue, EBITDA Margin, Employees)
• Industry Overview
  • Size of Industry
  • Reputable players
• Why is it a good investment
  • Why good PE Investment (e.g. Cyclicality, Cash Generative, Growth?)
  • Why good for fund (e.g. does it fit into strategy, are their previous investments)
  • Highlights about business (e.g. industry leader, distinct from competitors)
• Risks & Opps
  • Name 3 of each
• Investment Strategy
  • outline what fund can do (e.g. Spin-Off, Closing of Certain Branches etc.)

Point 1-2 are basic as they show that you are able to gather information online.
Point 3-4 are very important and should be the main focus, as these actually show that you can develop and investor mindset.
Point 5 is risky. If you are able to pull it off, this would be absolutely amazing, however it is often difficult to create an investment story without knowing every granularity of the business and might pose risks if interviewer is more familiar with industry. This is even more true if you are interviewing for entry level positions and have not worked fulltime for too long (e.g. don't know industries too well)

Note: Just to make sure in case some prospects worry.
Yes - this is for an analyst  position but No - on cycle recruiting obviously has not started yet (this opportunity is outside the US).
