summer of 2013. Who's left?
With this recruiting season being a little unorganized compared to prior years i was hoping we could get a list started of who has finished their process, who is in process and who has yet to start. My personal knowledge is west coast, but what I've heard is below:
Finished:
Oaktree
Silver Lake
Leonard Green
In process:
TA Associates
Levine leichtman
Marlin equity
Still to go:
KKR
Carlyle
Ares
If someone has the most recent gobuyside update that would help. Please add to list as much as possible
Thanks for starting this
How are you getting this info - just based on your own recruiter dialogues?
Think your list might be wrong but here's what I have.
Still to go: - Huntsman Gay - Kohlberg - Oaktree (PE and distressed) - Onex - Reservoir - Sageview
Good topic, yea i noticed recruiting to be alittle off this year. It might be due to banks starting layoffs again. I know UBS has basically told quite a few summer analyst they wont get FT due to layoffs.
Reasonably sure oaktree distressed has filled their class as one of my friends will be working there. And I think the main reason recruiting is messed up is because the megafunds elected to wait until the second year and various firms have pushed back their processes various amounts because of that.
How do you apply for these? Most of the PE shops above do not have any "jobs" or "career" type of page on their websites.
KKR, Blackstone and Carlyle are finished at my school as far as I know. There are still posts outstanding for the following: Madison Dearborn Insight JMI and some others but the names are blocked
Your b-school? I was talking more pre-mba associate roles but that information could be helpful as well. And most people "apply" through recruiters, as this is how almost all pe firms do their hiring.
Yes. Although these are on my school's job board and some of these funds do come to school.(Those I listed.) We have a pretty big PE cohort here. Most of my friends get inbound inquiries though from either search firms (Glocap, Oxbridge, etc.) or headhunters directly due to prior PE exp.
So, assuming most of the mega funds have waited, what percentage of Middle Market funds have already filled their classes vs. how many are still waiting to begin their process? Any ideas from someone going through the process currently?
50%? 80%?
