Thoughts on project finance as an exit after PE?
How similar is the work in project finance roles (which I am told is similar to other buy-side roles) to a traditional private equity role where you are involved in buyouts? Is project finance typically restricted to infra, power? I have no visibility on the space, also would like to know comp + wlb.
Project finance can also be for metals & mining/ natural resources in general, not just infra. Industrials too (DDed a PF loan for a greenfield steel mill in my previous gig).
Would not say it's like a traditional PE role, you'd want a platform-focused infra PE fund for that. PF is more like a cross between levfin and corp banking I would say.
