Types of PE firms for hedge funds and also HH question

Looking to enter public market hedge funds down the line (LO, L/S, maybe crossover). I also like Tech so targeting tech PE funds or tech teams at MFs. Does anyone have insight into whether it would be better to target MFs that have tech teams (TPG, KKR) or if specialized funds will also keep the door open to make the move (Thoma, Vista, Silverlake)?

Also is it okay to change your story with headhunters when you need them again to recruit for HFs? Should you not talk some of them now (ie dynamic)?
