WFH Policy for PE Analyst: How Many Days Are Usual?
Curious to hear how many WFH days PE funds typically allow Analyst 1-2s in London. Is it structured on an annual basis or a monthly basis?
I've noticed some firms are scaling back their WFH policies and recalling juniors to the office more frequently. Is this a common trend in the PE space right now?
Would appreciate any insights or recent experiences!
Based on the most helpful WSO content, the WFH policies in the PE space can vary significantly depending on the firm and its culture. While some PE shops are leaning into WFH policies, especially for lean teams with experienced members, others are scaling back and recalling juniors to the office more frequently.
For analysts, particularly those in their first or second year, the trend leans towards more in-office days. This is because junior professionals benefit greatly from in-person interactions, such as sitting in on meetings, learning from senior colleagues, and engaging in real-time discussions about deals. These experiences are harder to replicate in a virtual environment.
In terms of structure, WFH policies are not universally standardized across the industry. Some firms might offer flexibility on a weekly basis (e.g., 1-2 WFH days per week), while others might structure it on a monthly or annual basis. However, the general sentiment in the industry suggests that junior professionals, especially analysts, are expected to spend the majority of their time in the office to maximize learning and development opportunities.
If you're noticing firms scaling back WFH policies, it's likely part of a broader trend to ensure junior team members are fully integrated and gaining the hands-on experience necessary for their roles.

Think vast majority are back to 4-5 days in office now. It's weekly, you can't accrue them and use them later
Usually just Friday.
As standard, none ("we think it's important that you're in the office in order to maximise your learning at this point in your career"), but I've had 100% flexibility from seniors when I've asked for it.
Zero days unless there’s a reason to in which case people are reasonable
haha, hope the office kitchen has reasonable coffee to support
You can work from home on the weekend (from CapVest)
Jokes aside, work in LMM / MM - we have flexible policy but people average 3.5 days in I would say. I think it is great and something they should keep - unless they want to pay more.
