Unless they recently changed their program setup - it is a classroom setting where you'll be taught important concepts hands-on in preparation for a case study style deliverable at the end of the program. You won't generally get any actual deal experience but it is a great primer for those looking to break into the field and the most clear-cut path to getting a FT job at one of the industry's best brokerages. Hours to my understanding are relatively chill likely due to the classroom setting/lack of live deal work - bit of a contrast to when you get cranked as a FT analyst, but welcome to the industry. You don't pump juniors to the buyside like ES does by having them leave the office at 5 lol.
Can't speak for other offices, but the Santa Monica office goes out for drinks every Thursday and have a great time, and you get compensated well for frankly doing nothing for the firm (at that moment, it's an investment for them). Overall definitely an opportunity I'd recommend pursuing as ES is second-to-none on the sellside aside from a few select rockstar teams at other large brokerages, and at that point they're all great launchpads for a career in CRE.
do you know the return offer rate?
It varies office by office, but this past summer at one of their smaller offices (not NYC, SF, or LA), 3 of the 4 interns were given a return offer.
EMEA offices you are thrown directly into live deals and work with analysts. Great experience but the learning curve is steep.
Both comments above are correct. Lots of structured training and hearing different people in the firm talk. If you show you have the ability to contribute to live action you will be given opportunity. Maybe get to join some property tours. All kind of depends.
