Is it worth getting a MS In Real Estate?

I am interested in pivoting to CRE from Commercial Banking. I know it's possible directly from my current role as an analyst, but I'm curious to know if a MS in Real Estate would put me in a better position for a better more competitive role. Is a MS in RE worth it these days? If so, does it have to be from some elite program, or can most MS RE give you the same value? I am interested in a Chicago school (not uChicago or Northwestern) and they claim they have great access to Chicago RE employment.

Worth the price/years off? Or should I just try to pivot naturally?

I went to an MSRE/MSRED program and now work in an acquisition/am role. Wouldn't be in the role without the degree. Was it worth it vs what else I could've done maybe or maybe not. I think it generally works out if you go to a good program. Keep in mind at my program most of the people had their parents paying and was not really a problem. If you have to take out loans I wouldn't do it.

Do think it would be better to try to get on the real estate team at your bank and apply for roles directly after that. CRE lending to repe/development is very doable and I see it happen all the time.
