Career Resources
Don't have any NYC specific info but in general JLL Capital Markets Group would be an excellent internship. It would open a lot of doors for you. Worst case if you ended up at JLL it would be a great start to a real estate career....Just heads though up "Capital Markets" at JLL = Investment Sales. If you are more interested in debt / pref equity you should look into JLL's "Real Estate Investment Banking" group.
Both IS and REIB at JLL falls under the Capital Markets umbrella.
Can capital markets with JLL allow you to go RE or IBD? Is it good for both the areas or just one?
Try to get on Pete Nicolette's team (not sure if the name is spelled right). It's in reib so debt and equity placements, note sales and such. Good shop and honestly will get good experience/name on your resume with any part of their capital markets team in NYC.

Hi all,
Looking at a job opening as a multifamily capital markets analyst at JLL. Any idea what the pay is like in a west coast market? I know they typically start around $60-70k but what would the bonus be like? Also, what kind of things will I need to know for the interview? They ask for financial modeling experience, but wasn't sure if I need to know about waterfalls or anything since it's for a brokerage. And one last thing: Any advantages/disadvantages you see in a role like this? Thanks for your help!
Good call. "He aims to double the size of his team in the next two years, to 24 or 25 debt producers. In New York, the hope is also to cut into the middle of the market."

WolfOfCali, pure crickets, that's where I come in. Any of these useful?
More suggestions...
If those topics were completely useless, don't blame me, blame my programmers...
Where do people who join in Investment Sales end up generally? Are there good exit ops or do people usually stay? And how about the same for 'REIB'?
I was an investment sales analyst in a major market and was able to exit to an investment manager in an acquisitions role after about a year. Plenty of exit opps
How difficult is it get an investment sales analyst position out of undergrad with a little bit of brokerage experience?
Agreed, plenty of exit ops from investment sales with the most common being a major institutional investment manager. REPE would be harder but is still possible (much easier if you're in a similar role at Eastdil)....JLL REIB exits would be similar (investment manager / pension fund advisor or REIT) but then you could also look at debt funds, CMBS and balance sheet lenders.
Good buddy of mine went Investment Sales -> MSRE -> Investment Sales -> REIB -> Investment Sales
You can bounce around a bit in real estate with a good resume.
My route was a bit different. I did research for a year after undergrad, as graduated w/ no internships or work experience. I networked pretty heavily during that time and taught myself financial modeling. I also paid for an argus certification class. The majority of other analysts that I know in my market (at JLL, HFF, Eastdil and Cassidy) were not getting the gig straight out of undergrad but had a year or two of work experience.
All that being said, it is definitely possible especially with previous RE experience. The issue would probably be more tied to when teams are hiring. Its not like IB where you have specific recruiting periods. Jobs just tend to pop up at random times and networking plays a key role.
Hope this helps. PM if you want to talk more detailed specifics.
Does anyone know if full time offers are extended to any JLL capital market's interns at the end of the summer?
they have in the past

@mebel very impressive. Did you do a stint in REIB or go straight to the buy side?
Has anyone been contacted for this position yet?
Has anyone gotten offered by JLL as a summer intern yet?
