Major GPA for double major

I'm majoring in finance and econ and have a 3.3 cumulative GPA. When I calculate my major GPA including finance and econ, it's 3.4, but if I just include finance, it's a more attractive 3.6. Technically, finance is my major and the business school is my home college within the University, I just picked up econ because I had some room. Is it a big deal to list major GPA using just the finance grades? Thanks for the help.

Sorry to burst your bubble but 3.56 isn't very solid at all - it's just above the cutoff. Given the current hiring environment, that's not going to impress anybody. Even if you do get an interview, you'd have to blow them clear out of the water, but given your performance in econ, I doubt that's going to happen. I guess if you don't mind working at bofa securities than they don't mind much either.

But hey, who cares? Is my telling you this going to change your chances or change your efforts? Is brisbanes telling you what he told you going to change what you're going to do? If not, then stop asking.

dont be an asshole

3.56 --> 3.6, which is just fine for getting interviews from a target. assuming you have strong ECs, work experience, etc., you should be good for an interview just about anywhere.

they usually dont look at your transcript until after you get the job, just to make sure u werent lying about ur gpa. some places request an unofficial transcript in advance. there are many threads on WSO about this, and the general consensus is that banks dont care about specific grades in specific classes (they only care about ur GPA, major, and school), but business schools do care about ur grades in specific clases

hope that helps
